Douglas G. Perkins, President & CEO and Director
Mr. Perkins has been actively involved in mineral exploration and development, with extensive experience in West Africa, for thirty years. From 2005 to 2010 he was CEO and Executive Director of GMA Resources Plc, an AIM listed company which raised over US$50 million equity and debt and successfully constructed a heap leach gold mine in Algeria during Mr. Perkins' tenure. In 2007, Mr. Perkins was awarded the prestigious Pioneer of the Year Award at the Mines & Money Conference in London. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Perkins was Vice President and CFO of Orezone Resources Inc. From 2000 to 2005 Mr. Perkins also provided senior executive consulting services to a number of mineral exploration, development and mining companies listed on the TSX and the TSX Venture Exchange.
Lyle R. Hepburn, LLB, B.Comm., Chairman and Director, since 2001
Mr. Hepburn has been practicing business and commercial law for nearly 40 years, and is currently practicing at MARKES LAWYERS in Toronto. His practice is focused primarily on advising and representing public mineral exploration and mining companies. Mr. Hepburn serves as a director of Gitennes Exploration Inc. a mineral exploration company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and First Nickel Inc. a nickel producing company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. He is also Corporate Secretary of Harry Winston Diamond Corporation, a diamond producing and luxury goods company listed on the Toronto and New York Stock Exchanges.
Scott Waldie Director, since 1997
Mr. Waldie has over 30 years of international experience in the mineral exploration industry. Scott was President & CEO of Legend Gold from 2005 to 2011. Previous to that he managed private client wealth management services with an investment counsel firm from 1994 to 2002. Mr. Waldie was a Founding Partner, and Mining Analyst with First Delta Securities Inc. Prior to 1994, Mr. Waldie was an independent mining consultant, director, prospector, and exploration manager for various public companies responsible for property acquisitions, exploration programs and corporate financing.
Ambogo Guindo, Sr. Vice President and Director
Mr. Guindo is currently Legend Gold's Sr. Vice President. Mr. Guindo is a native of the Republic of Mali. He holds a B.Sc. Ingenieur Geologue from the Ecole Nationale D'Ingenieurs Mali, and an M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration from Queen's University, Canada. Since 2002, Mr. Guindo has been the Vice President and Sr. Vice President of the Corporation. Since 2000, Mr. Guindo has also been the principal of Ambogo Consulting, a mineral exploration consulting firm with a focus on exploration in West Africa. From 1987 to 1999, Mr. Guindo was employed by BHP Minerals as a Program Manager.
Scott M. Hand, Director
Mr. Hand is Executive Chairman of the Board of Royal Nickel Corporation. Previously, Mr. Hand was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Inco Limited ("Inco") from April 2002 until he retired in January 2007. Prior to that, Mr. Hand was the President of Inco and held positions in Strategic Planning, Business Development and Law. Inco has been a major global Canadian-based resources enterprise and a leading producer and marketer of nickel and other metals. Mr. Hand also serves on the boards of Manulife Financial Corporation (financial services), Juno Special Situations Corporation (mining resource investment), Boyd Technologies LLC (paper non-woven materials), Royal Coal Corp. (mineral resources), and the World Wildlife Fund Canada. Mr. Hand received a BA from Hamilton College and a JD from Cornell University.
Anthony Lloyd, Director
Mr. Lloyd has over 35 years experience in corporate finance and private equity financing both as a principal and an advisor in a broad range of public and private market transactions. He is currently President of Rivenhall Capital Limited, a private financial advisory firm. He has been a corporate director since 2001 and a board member of a number of public and private companies principally involved in the mining and minerals exploration industries. Mr. Lloyd is a graduate of The Royal School of Mines and has an MBA from Columbia University.
Gianni Kovacevic, Director
Mr. Kovacevic is the President of Kovacevic Consult Inc., a consulting company serving the natural resource sector since March 2002. Since February 24, 2011, Mr. Kovacevic has been the President, CEO and a director of Choice Gold Corp., a mineral exploration company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and Chairman of Romulus Resources since March 2010. From March 2006 to Sept 2008, Mr. Kovacevic was Manager of Corporate Development for Petaquilla Minerals Ltd., a gold exploration company listed on the TSX, and Petaquilla Copper Ltd., a copper exploration company formerly listed on the TSX.
Terence S. Ortslan, Director
Mr. Ortslan is the Managing Director of TSO & Associates, an independent mining, metals and fertilizer research firm, since 1996. He is also a Director of Silvermet Inc., Maudore Minerals Ltd, Plexmar Resources Inc., Bitterroot Resources Ltd. and Niocan Inc. Prior to 1996, Mr. Ortslan worked as a mining analyst with a number of investment firms including BBN James Capel Inc., Loewen, Ondaatje McCutcheon Ltd., Merrill Lynch, Wood Gundy Inc. and Jones Heward & Co. Mr. Ortslan obtained his B.Sc. (Engineering) degree in 1972 and an MBA in 1974, both from McGill University.
